Charter School Patterns of Innovation: A New Architecture for a New Education is a guidebook produced by students in an immersive learning seminar at Ball State University. Through a series of case studies that synthesize curriculum, teaching and learning styles, and best practices in school design, this book offers ways the designed environment has the ability to transform teaching and learning in K-12 educational settings. A focus is placed on the innovative design and practices of charter schools, although private and public schools are also analyzed. A second related volume of this work provides a series of fifty plus design patterns and recommendations drawn from these case studies that are tools school stakeholders involved in the adaptive reuse or new construction of schools will find useful.
